The call for submissions is now open for the 2008 Big Bang Film Festival (BBFF). BBFF is a celebration of exciting and inventive films in the Action, Adventure, Suspense and Asian Action Cinema genres. BBFF also welcomes documentary submissions featuring extreme sports and athletic events, activities and competitions which have contributed some of the most entertaining video of death defying speed, skill and daring.

Each year Big Bang Film Festival showcases amazing films, some classics, some classics in the making. Every submission is posted on the BBFF Submissions Page so that all of our filmmakers can link to their listing.

Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting Competition

The Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting program is an international competition, the only annual writing competition sponsored by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. It is open to screenwriters who have not earned more than $5,000 writing for film or television.

THE PRIZES

Up to five $30,000 fellowships are awarded each year to promising new screenwriters. From the program’s inception in 1986 through 2007, over $2.6 million have been awarded to 109 writers.

REQUIREMENTS

A complete entry includes an original feature film screenplay approximately 90 to 120 pages in length, an application form, and a US$30 entry fee. Entry scripts must be the original work of one writer, or the collaborative work of two writers, and must be written originally in English. Adaptations and translated scripts are not eligible.

APPLICATION AND SUBMISSION

You can apply online by visiting www.oscars.org/nicholl and following the links. A physical (paper) copy of your script is required. Whether you apply online or submit a paper application form, you must send a physical copy of your script to the Nicholl competition, by mail or professional delivery service, postmarked on or before the May 1, 2008, to the mailing address below.

March 10, 2008 - Rome - Enel Park visitors are able to view all of the 137 short films participating in the Enel Digital Contest. The videos will be shown in a continuous cycle in the Enel Island Auditorium on Second Life until March 31st, the deadline for voting.

After having viewed the videos on Second Life, you can connect to the website www.enel.it/digitalcontest/english and vote for your favorite short film, and be eligible to win several prizes: Mac Mini combo and LCD monitor, iPod Video, iPod Shuffle, tickets to premieres.

Enel Digital Contest is the international competition for young videomakers promoted by Enel and Amici del Future Film Festival Association. Now in its fourth edition, this year's contest, open to videomakers ranging from 18 to 35 years of age, is on "The Future of Energy." ENEL DIGITAL CONTEST Competition

ONLINE VOTING TO START

The fourth edition of the contest, open to young videomakers and presided by famous film director Ferzan Ozpetek, now enters its crucial phase. Prizes also available for voters.

The fourth edition of the Enel Digital Contest, the international competition for young videomakers promoted by Enel and the Amici association of the Future Film Festival, opens its online voting and will allow Internet users to vote for the 137 finalists until March 31st.

All short films participating in the contest this year focus on a very important issue in today's world, "the future of energy." These videos, which last no more than 90 seconds, have adopted many different technical solutions ranging from live action with special effects, stop-motion animation, and 3D, all the way to musicals, and can be viewed on the contest's official website: http://www.enel.it/digitalcontest/english.asp.

Once again, Internet users are called to play a key role in evaluating the participating videos and selecting two of the Enel Digital contest winners. Many prizes are also available for online voters: Mac Mini combo and LCD monitor, iPod Classic, iPod shuffle.

The short films will not only be voted online, they will also be evaluated by an expert jury presided by film director Ferzan Ozpetek. One of the new features presented by this year's edition, is the entry into the virtual world of Second Life. As of February, all participating videos can be viewed at the Enel Park Auditorium (Enel's green island).

It's ancient Greece, and the Athenians have been at war with the Spartans for so long that no one even remembers the reason that the battle started in the first place. (Something about "destructive weapons"...) Together with her lover, the Spartan singer Lampito, lesbian activist Lysistrata convinces the women of Athens to go on a sex strike in order to force their men to stop fighting! This results in painful...er, hardship...for the soldiers, and the gay men of Athens, led by the fabulous drag queen, Hepatitos, are all too happy to help out! What happens when the homophobic army institutes "Operation 'Buddy Relief'" is the subject of this madcap romp through -- as Hepatitos puts it -- "Life! And death! and sex! And...(sigh)...love...."

(Loosely) based upon a work by German writer Ralph Koenig, Stewart Zuckerbrod's (Loosely) Lysistrata, a new play with songs and music by Zuckerbrod and composer Charles Baker, puts a 21st Century twist on Aristophane's ancient comedy, "Lysistrata."
